Bottle. Cloudy golden yellow color, pillowy white head. Aroma of lightly spiced raw bread dough. Taste has citrus, banana, light spice. Decent.
Langweiliger, süßlich bananiger Beginn. Dann etwas bitter, das Bananenaroma bleibt bestehen. Um Ende ist davon nicht mehr viel übrig, wässrig, laff. 11/8/9/8//8
How: Draught.
Where: Akkurat, Stockholm.
Appearance: Clear golden colour with a white head.
Aroma: Estery banana, fruit, wheat.
Body: Medium body and carbonation.
Flavour: Banana, fruit, yeast.
Pours a hazy golden color with a very frothy, white head. The aromas are of bananas, cloves, bubble-gum, and yeast. Tastes a bit tangy then sweetmalt with lots of clove and spiciness. Very crisp and clean. A solid weizen that could very well had come from Bavaria.
Very drinkable wheat. Slightly spiced. Nose is light peel, lemon and hay. Rated 5/14/04
Bottle. Medium amber color. Estery aroma, with banana and other fruits, very yeasty, with a bit of earthiness. Rather thin palate, and not very rich flavor; banana, clove, a bit tart and acidic as well. Ok, but not great.
Bottled@The White Horse, Parson Green. Hazy orange colour, small white head. Aroma is wheat, caramel, some earth and mild lemony and bananaish notes. Flavour is much the same with earthyness being a bit strong. Probably not that fresh bottle.
Location: Had it multiple times, on tap and bottled, most recently was at the Blind Tiger a few months ago.
Overall Impression: Relatively standard for its style, really similar to blue moon with just a drop more complexity.
Bottle as shown. Pours a pale golden with a medium frothy white head that leaves behind decent spotty lacing along the glass. The aroma is wheat grass with grain and light hop. The taste is a dry malt with clove and banana. A decent hefe from Brooklyn.
Draft. OK, but the characteristics that make a hefeweizen a hefeweizen don’t come together for me in this beer — at least compared to many others on the market. The golden pour and white head are there. The banana and slightly clove aroma is there. But the body is a little too watery to hold the wheat and lemon flavors together. The body and flavor come across as wimpy. Moderately sweet and slightly tart finish. The German hefes are much better.
