Uncles are like Dads, only cooler – just like IPA’s are a cooler version of Pale Ales. Insane Uncle was our first IPA and, just like your real uncle, it is bold and brash and lot’s of fun at parties.

Tap at Beer De Luxe, Fed Square, Melbourne. Poured a clear copper colour with a thin white head and lots of clingy lace. The aroma is malt, tropical fruit hop. The flavour is moderate bitter light sweet with a crisp, woody, sweet jammy citrus fruit, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

On tap at Gertrude Hotel: Pours golden with full bodied head. Big pine notes. Complex almost spruce flavours that are confronting yet balanced. Very well executed IPA.

Bottle. Pale amber with a white head. Aroma of toffee, pine, grapefruit, peach, some tropical fruit. The toffee and pine combine in a butterscotchy sort of way. Lowish carbonation. Very sweet with light toffee, peach, oranges rather than grapefruit, some spices. Moderately bitter finish. Sweet but clean works fine here. Good stuff.
