The legend of Tyranena began long ago, in a time before history was written. Legend tells of a foreign tribe that built a series of stone structures and effigy mounds on the edge of the lake called Tyranena.

Today, these structures lie preserved deep under the waters of Rock Lake. No one knows for sure who built them, the purpose they served, how and why they are now submerged, or even the meaning of the word Tyranena.

We invite you to develop your own theories while enjoying the new legends of Tyranena, the Legendary Wisconsin Beers of Tyranena Brewing Company.

Bottle from Ughsmash, thanks! Almost black and opague. Restricted aroma, something like Dutch ryebread. Thick fluid with ryebread, some tartness, notes of whiskey and licorice. Somewhat alcoholic aftertaste, but a delicious beer!

12 ounce bottle from Tavour. First crack at this brewery from Wisconsin. Pour yields nothing much than an ordinary Porter. Aroma comes in with a hit at the maple sweetness and a little bit of the Woody Bourbon Barrel notes. Taste is where this really all comes together, roasted malts,a little bit of sweet chocolate, notes from the maple and the Woody Barrel notes on top of that. 9%? Pretty damn smoothDave's for a stronger Porter. Hint the sweetness, hint of bitterness, maple and a little bit of boozy that's from the bourbon period. Not Bad.

Got in a trade with GreenBayBA. 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa nibs, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, grassy, peppery hop; and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oats, dark/brown bread, smoke, char, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa nibs, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; with a great hop/roast bitter/sweet balance, and no acrid/astringent flavors after finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.3%. Overall this is a delicious oatmeal stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa nibs, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Nicely rich malt complexity, balancing earthy hops, and restrained yeast character. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Ddaft: Clear, deep gold, off-white head. wood, tea, mango aroma. Sweet, herbal and leafy.....caramel malt taste. Sort of a root-y, earthy bittering. Not bad....but quite different and unexpected.
