Hanssens Artisanaal is the oldest independent geuze blender in the whole world. At Hanssens, no beer is actually brewed! Instead, they pursue a profession that was very important in the history of lambic style beers, they are solely blenders of beer.

Hanssens takes this a step further, and actually blends batches from different breweries in their area. This used to be a very common practice, but Hanssens is now the oldest remaining blender. They bring to this endeavor a variety of barrels, some up to one hundred years old, and a passion and a love for the tradition of Geuze and Lambics.

37,5cl bottle (bottled 03/2017) as “Hanssens Framboos Lambic” from Drink Factory in Mons. F: no. C: red, hazy. A: a lot of raspberries, bit woody, funky, leather, lemon. T: lemon sour, woody, raspberries, funky, bit puckering, light oily mouthfeel, no carbonation, 4 years old and quite nice yet too sour to be fully enjoyable for me.

Dziwnie sie postarzal, bo dosc niska kwasnosc, kapke pestkowo-dzemowe te wisnie, octu tylko hint i to o dziwo pasuje do tych dzemowych nutek. Wysoka wytrawnosc, dzikosc nieco piwniczna ale tez skorzana ewidentnie. Czuc, ze stary, ale pozytywnie czuc.

Bottle. Pink pour. Aroma of sour cherry, tart, acidic sourness, raspberry, strawberry and wheat. Taste has strongly sour cherry, raspberry, strawberry, wheat, tart and lots of acidic sourness. I like sour, bit this is a bit too much, like fruited vinegar.

Ruikt naar aardbeien, framboos. Smaakt zuur, fruitig, rood fruit. Beetje munt. Net iets te scherp.
