Located by the harbour, a short train ride from the center and not far from Kaapse. Previously, there was nothing in this neighbourhood, looks far away and dull approaching, but it is relatively nearby. Visited durring the Shipped Beer Festival. The place is just gigantic, the second largest independent brewery in the Netherlands currently apparently. The backing is from Bierfabriek. Brewery tours possible, brewery is huge, two bars and a pick-up point for food. I had a portion of vegan bitterballen for 6 euro. There is also a shop with gift packs, shirts, magnets, key chains. 1950s USA roadside restuarant styled booths, huge velvet couches, taps for beer on your table where you can also rinse your glass. The observation is simply enormous, complete with a terrace. Everything is impressive except for their own beers; the festival collaboration smoked Märzen was nice, but their own beers were quite dull, consisting of overly traditional NL-BE inspired beers such as Belgian Blond, Dutch Bock, Tripel, and so on. It is definitely worth visiting and a cool place. A shame that the beers are so dull and feel so stuck in time, especially for a new brewery.

Central Schaerbeek so out of the way for most but the locals. Visited on a Tuesday afternoon, lively place, locals but also visitors. Lots of bartenders, quick service, gorgeous spacious bar with nice decoration. Decent prices, better than average for cocktails so those looked tempting, pizza also available as food. They have a house beer Jandrain-Jandrenouille which is cool but the beer was a bit too flat and watery but still cool. Also taps from the likes of De La Senne en De La Source, a few new beers on tap, website is fully up to date. Interesting smallish selection of rotating bottles as well including a Stoemelings and Cantillon collab at okay prices. Definitely a fun and worthwhile lively place.

Visited on a Tuesday afternoon. Located in a residential area in Schaarbeek so definitely out of the way unless if you’re local but a tram runs near the door. Gorgeous looking venue, lots of brown wood color, bricks, spacious, big bar. Very friendly service. Interesting menu of snacks had bread with red beets puree for 6 euro which was nice. All snacks were 6-to-8 euro range. 5 taps with core range De La Senne, L’Ermitage and a Witloof beer. Not a huge or exotic selection but all good stuff. Beer was a bit pricey but not by much. Overall, very comfy bar with good solid classics and good snacks.

I remember visiting this place when it was still a cooperation with Jopen and it way better now that it is a venture with Mikkeller. There are people, there is atmosphere, and it feels cozy inside. Quite a bit of people when visiting almost all of them expats or tourists, atmosphere was maximum hipster. Service was very friendly, certainly average. Taplist was what I expected in a good way, decent selection of Mikkeller, one each from Mikkeller Sand Diego, Warpigs & Baghaven, all solid beers which I tried. Rest of the board was what you would expect from an Arend bar. Prices about as expected, tad too steep for the Gulpener stuff which was prices. Small bottle list. Nice interior design. Food is 50/50 vegan and some free-range meat nonsense. I tried the pulled vegan sandwich with hosin & horseradish sauce, price seemed bit steep at first, but portion was plentiful. Everything was super crisp, almost too much but not quite yet, seitan cooked so soft that it was almost hosin soaked mushroom, definitely different and pleasant. They did a pretty good job with this place, exactly what I expected but in a good way. Music was great including Sophie at some point.

Modern, gorgeous looking and very big. I visited on a Thursday evening, and it was absolutely packed, just way too many people. You had to wait in line to be seated, you had to wait a long time until it was your turn to get serve, you could pay. The staff was working like crazy but just too much time not just waiting but whilst waiting you needed to spend all your attention on trying to get the staff to notice you. Kind of ruined the experience for me. They have food including a vegan burger and a vegan board that looked interesting. I had the patience to order only one beer, their pilsner which was surprisingly decent, decent by NL standards, below average for DE. Okay prices especially for Amsterdam, about 5 beers on tap when visited.
