A small shop just around the corner from Glam, down some stairs from one of those alleys with lots of stairs. The fridges are full with a great selection of Croatian breweries from all over the country.
The knowledgeable girl working there directed me to 4 breweries I had been hunting and unable to find anywhere in Zagreb. Excellent!
Note that it appears that this branch is seasonal and not open on off-season.
The original Pomalo, far out of the center in Lapad, there’s more space (though it’s certainly not big), and the best thing is that there’s a small garden out front where you can sit at tables and drink beers from the shop.
The person working there was very knowledgeable about the products as with the old town branch and the selection was also excellent with more unusual Croatian breweries represented.
Well worth visiting if you’re in Lapad, or if you just want a nice space to drink some beer a lot cheaper than the center. Not so much worth it if you’re staying near the center as the stock is very similar to the central branch.
Easily accessible by bus if you’re coming from outside of Lapad.
Interesting restaurant inside the 'Krakauer Haus' with a Polish touch although the menu also features Franconian food and especially beer. Sat outside in the beergarden during a sunny afternoon waiting for my train to arrive at the main station, had enough time to enjoy a Spalter Zwickel on tap. Five other draft beers are available, mostly Franconian lagers. The small bottle list focuses on Franconia as well. Very relaxed atmosphere, solid service, very decent pricing. Is apparently very crowded during the evening, so reservation is recommended. Nice venue!
It's a big and handy supermarket a short distance from my AirBnB so I'm basically there every day. Sure enough there's some macro ticks and a few obvious imports.
